Side by Side Photo Project Week 71 – HELLGATE!

My post for week 71 of the Side by Side photo project with Leslie. I went boarding for the first time this year at Hunter Mountain NY and I did my first Black Diamond (really just a hard blue) conditions were “fast and hard, typical East Cost” but I enjoyed myself and it looks like all the indoboarding I’ve been doing at the gym has paid off because I’m not too sore this morning.

Side by Side Photo Project Week 65 – Snowstorm

My post for week 65 of the Side by Side photo project with Leslie. Similar to one I took last year but more snow and less dirty! The snow really was crazy, and in the distance you can see the wind whipping it up and around which buried people’s cars, so happy to be car free in NYC. Also it was hard to choose between this photo and Diego who came a close second. He was very tired after Christmas Dinner.

Side by Side Photo Project Week 58 – On Your Marks

My post for week 58 of the Side by Side photo project with Leslie. This weekend was the New York City marathon and the route goes past the end of our street so we went to cheer on a few friends who were running. These are the “elite men” who finished in something ridiculous like 2 hours and 10 mins. I almost missed them they were running so fast!

Also running was my friend Isobel who flew all the way from Bonny Scotland to NYC just for the Marathon.

We were also cheering on Chris from DC.

And the lovely Trish from Brooklyn.

Congratulations to all the runners you are truly inspiring and make me want to dust off my running shoes and stop complaining about my old man aches and pains.

Best costume of the day award goes to this guy……

Side by Side Photo Project Week 38 – Overhead Wires

My post for week 38 of the Side by Side photo project with Leslie. There is a law in DC that bans overhead wires on the streets but there is currently a battle to try and overrule this law to allow streetcars to be introduced into the city and run on overhead wires. They have built several tracks in the city but currently don’t have permission to run the trains with overhead wires *sigh* I saw these in an alley this weekend and snapped this pic, it’s a rare site in DC, and something you don’t really notice the lack of until you walk down the alleyways where they are allowed.
